Morguefile for Reference Photos

MorgueFile

MorgueFile sounds a little sinister, doesn’t it? In the newspaper business, “morgue file” is actually the name given to the file that holds past issues. The phrase is also sometimes used by illustrators and graphic designers when referring to a file of samples, previous works, or reference materials used for inspiration for new projects.

MorgueFile.com contains thousands of photographs. All of the photos are posted by individuals who want to share their work with others – and there is no cost to you. You can download any of the free images to use for your own inspiration or as reference photos. The only stipulation is that you may NOT use the photo “as is” for resale products. Photographers also ask that you credit them with the photograph if you use it on a website.
