Art Pens

Art pens come in many different varieties, producing just as many different results. Here are just a few of them:

Pigma Micron Pens – These are some of my favorites. They come in six different size nibs (pen tips) ranging from .20 mm to .50 mm. They also come in 14 other colors besides black.

Rapidograph Pens – These technical pens come in different sizes and with refillable cartridges. They are great for artists, architects, engineers, and designers because they produce precise, consistent lines. The companies Rotring and Koh-I-Noor both manufacture rapidograph pens.

Sharpie Pens – If I’m working with younger students, the Sharpie pens are the ones I choose. Less expensive than other pens, Sharpies come with fine and ultrafine tips, making them a good choice for beginners. Lots of colors available.

Pentel Pocket Brush Pen – My nephew introduced me to this pen a couple of years ago, and I have really enjoyed using it. The nib is actually a brush, made up of hundreds of tiny hairs. The ink can be easily refilled by inserting a new cartridge.
