Brainstorming Thanksgiving

Here’s a fun way to start brainstorming Thanksgiving — with a small group or a whole bunch of friends!

What You’ll Need

Provide each player with a pen or pencil and a piece of paper. You’ll also need a timer. That’s it!

How to Play

Set the timer for two or three minutes. Then tell each player to write down as many words as he or she can think of that relate to Thanksgiving. Some words might be:

  • Pilgrim
  • Native American
  • Massasoit
  • Squanto
  • Turkey
  • Corn
  • Mashed Potatoes
  • Dinner
  •  Gravy
  • Thursday
  • Holiday
  • November
  • Autumn

You get the idea!

To Score

When the timer goes off, have everyone put their pencils down. Then have Player #1 begin reading his or her list one word at a time. If any of the other players have the same word, Player #1 and the other players must cross off that word. If no one else has the word, Player #1 circles the word and wins one point. Player #1 continues until the entire list is read.

Then, Player #2 begins reading from her list, omitting the words that were already marked off. For every word Player #2 reads that no one else has, Player #2 gets a point.

Continue around the room until every player has had a chance to read from his or her list. The winner is the player with the most unique words!

Happy Thanksgiving!
