For Ages 17 and Younger
Many famous ornithologists were bird artists when they were young. Perhaps you will be the next John James Audubon, Roger Tory Peterson or David Allen Sibley!
Contest Rules
One (1) original artwork* submission per day, per child, February 1-21, 2022 at 9 p.m. Elachee will announce age-category winners on February 22, 2022.
Artwork Criteria
- Artwork must depict Elachee resident animal ambassador Chewy the Great Horned Owl (Meet Chewy) or the Great Horned Owl species.
- Artwork must be original* and solely created by the child submitting the art.
Artwork must not infringe upon the trademark, copyright, moral rights, intellectual rights, or rights of privacy of any entity or person. - Use any of the following media: pen, pencil, markers, paint, charcoal, canvas, paper, recycled materials, sculpture/clay.
Contest Age Categories
- Age Category: 0-7 Years
- Ages Category: 8-12 Years
- Ages Category: 13-17 Years
Prizes
Prizes include a ‘birding prize pack’ with assorted bird gifts that are age appropriate.

Email scan or photo of artwork to maranda@elachee.org or elachee@elachee.org.
Use hashtag #elacheebirdartcontest and post to social media.
For your child’s artwork to be accepted, your emailed submission must include:
- Child’s Name, Age, Grade Level, School Currently Attending
- Parent/Guardian Name, Phone Number, Email, City of Residence
- Photo of Child Artist with Artwork Submission (not required, but preferred)
- Required statement: By entering the 2022 Bird Photography contest, I, [parent/guardian first and last name], agree that Elachee Nature Science Center may use the submitted photo(s) of artwork and photo(s) of my child pictured with artwork for advertising and/or marketing purposes.
