This past Sunday, I had to opportunity to visit the Greenville Children’s Museum as part of their program, Follow the Reader. Thinking it would be a younger crowd, I took along a book I illustrated calledCathy’s Animal Garden: Enter at Your Own Risk by Stacy Tornio. It’s the story of two friends, Henry and Andy, who bravely search a backyard full of wild animals for a missing baseball.
Most of the audience was very young — around ages 3-4. But they all listened so well! I brought along most of the original paintings, too, and they had a fun time searching for the animals in the paintings. When I created the illustrations, I added a dragonfly to each one, so we looked for those as well.
