Join South Carolina children’s picture book authors Samantha Bell (author and illustrator of The Perfect Pet) and Scotti Cohn (author of Animal Partners) for a book talk & signing at Fiction Addiction on Saturday, May 9th, at 1:00pm. The perfect way to end Children’s Book Week! This event is free and open to the public.

After begging for a pet, a child’s mother finally says yes in Samantha Bell‘s book, The Perfect Pet (Arbordale, paperback, $9.95). But which animal will be the best pet? Using animal classification and habitat needs, the child narrows it down to mammals, but which one?

Samantha lives in Upstate SC with her husband, four children, and lots of animals. She always said she wanted to be an artist growing up, but also became interested in music and history in school. She began pursuing art again after graduation, teaching art to children. Samantha also enjoys writing, especially for children. Her articles, stories, and poems have appeared online and in magazines and devotionals.

From the “crocodile’s dentist” to the “mongoose spa,” Animal Partners by Scotti Cohn (Arbordale, paperback, $9.95) takes a whimsical look at symbiotic relationships of animals large and small. Although many animals live in groups of the same kind, here you will learn how some animals form unique partnerships with different species. After all, don’t we all need a little help from our friends?

Scotti has been writing poetry and fiction almost since she learned the alphabet. She is the author of four children’s books published by Arbordale, eight books for older children and adults published by Globe Pequot Press, and a fantasy chapter book written for children in upper elementary school. She lives in Pendleton, SC. Her website address is: www.scotticohn.com
