Flat Out Under Pressure – Again

Last year, I entered a local art contest called Flat Out Under Pressure. The contest requires that each artist creates a piece from start to finish within 24 hours, from Friday morning to Saturday morning, with the winners announced Saturday night.  This year, I had an idea of what I wanted to do, but then began second-guessing myself. I ended up doing a picture I knew my daughter would love, even if the juror of the contest did not. And alas, she did not. 🙁

But that’s okay. I knew she probably wouldn’t when we walked in for the Saturday night reception. So much of the art was   abstract or expressionistic that my realistic rendering of a cute, fluffy kitten just did not fit in. 🙂 So, here it is, not a great photo because my nine-year-old was holding it up a little bit crookedly (I think that’s a word) and his hand cast a shadow on the right-hand side. It’s on display with the rest of the entries for the month, so I won’t be able to get a better photo until I get it back.

Here is “Rain, Rain, Come Again” done in pastels  (I had to put rain in the title because some of my girls’ friends thought it might be snow outside the window).
